Description
LEGACY EVOLVED!
The third generation ANDIAMO is a high-end AD/DA converter from German pro audio and live sound specialists DirectOut.
Designed for professional live recording and playback systems, ANDIAMO brings the epic sound quality of the PRODIGY Series to a simplified 1U device, with a host of features making it perfect for professional touring productions, including 2 x MADI ports and dual power supplies for failsafe redundancy, and full integration with the powerful GlobCon control software.
32-channel Analogue <> MADI Conversion
Offering simultaneous conversion of 32 audio channels from analogue to digital (and vice-versa), the latest version features newly designed AD/DA converters and extensive remote control via Globcon software.
Housed in an elegant, space-saving 1U 19” casing, the ANDIAMO can freely convert to and from MADI via two SFP ports.
MADI I/O via SFPs (sold separately)
The two SFP slots can be populated with any of the DirectOut MADI SFP modules (sold separately), which are available to purchase from the DirectOut Accessories section.
The following options are available:
Control Software
GlobCon is DirectOut's customisable software platform, offering professional users a powerful and continually evolving tool able to manage any type or size of production environment in a contemporary, flexible, ergonomic and cost-effective way.
Specifically designed to support the professional entertainment and live music industries, GlobCon provides extensive management and control for both point-to-point (e.g. MADI) and audio-networked systems (Dante, Ravenna), with access to matrix mixers, summing busses, and effects like EQ, Dynamics and Delay.
Available for both Mac and PC, globcon is a ”plug and play” solution that allows multiple users to share control of devices using a standard Ethernet infrastructure, enabling large audio networks to be monitored from multiple positions within a venue, arena or any other large-scale production.
The software is available for download from the globCon website, providing integrated control and management of any number of DirectOut devices via an Ethernet network, USB and MIDI ports.
ANDIAMO - Quick Overview
The ANDIAMO's front panel provides status LEDs for real-time monitoring of signal condition for all analogue input and output channels.
Full remote control of the ANDIAMO can be managed remotely via Globcon remote software, using the dedicated ethernet port (labelled MGMT) on the back of the unit.
Basic functions are quickly accessible via two dedicated buttons found on the front panel, including bank routing, clock and I/O selection.
Remote control via globcon (Windows® / macOS®) offers access to the following features:
- Signal routing on a per-channel basis
- 8 Summing Busses
- Level control for input and output channels (gain and level trim)
- Redundancy management (EARS™)
Enhanced Automatic Redundancy Switching (EARS™)
Enhanced Automatic Redundancy Switching (EARS™) is DirectOut's signal monitoring and auto-switching technology, providing a reliable built-in moniutoring system for all digital inputs, and preventing interruption of the output signal.
Using DirectOut's own Buffer Loop Detection System (BLDS™) technology - or alternatively pilot tone triggering - EARS™ constantly monitors the condition of the trigger signal on the input. In the case of a failure, EARS™ switches automatically to the backup input (MADI or audio network).
EARS™ (Enhanced Automatic Redundancy Switching™) is also available on all digital inputs.

Clocking
Selectable clock sources are word clock, MADI input or the internal clock. The current system clock is provided at the word clock output at any time.
Redundancy & Safe operation
Two MADI ports offer seamless port redundancy and switchover.
Thanks to two phase-redundant power supplies with separate IEC inlets and AC power switches on the rear panel the device offers the highest reliability, with hardware monitoring for PSU status and temperature.
Breakout Boxes (optional extra)
DirectOut offer a range of optional adaptor boxes available in different variants to extend the coverage of the ANDIAMO series.
