23rd March 2012 2:54 pm

RME Launch HDSPe MADI FXRME have launched their latest PCIe card at Musikmesse 2012 this week. The unique and ground breaking RME HDSPe MADI FX promises to be great news for MADI users who require high channel counts. In fact, the HDSPe MADI FX features a staggering 390 audio channels, 3 MADI I/O’s (2 optical and 1 coaxial) along with an AES/EBU I/O and an analogue output for monitoring.

The HDSPe MADI FX is the first to feature RME’s new modular Hammerfall Pro Audio Core. This innovative high-tech core will process 3 times as many channels as the its predecessor, but significantly reduces the system load which enables ultra-low latency.

RME’s new core also features a “special version” of their recently launched (with the Fireface UFX and UCX) TotalMix FX which controls and manages the amazing number of channels and also features a faster DSP. The integrated 192kHz RME effects engine offers latency-free monitoring with many effects which are hosted on the card and are independent from your DAW.

The RME HDSPe MADI FX can also be used as a very powerful MADI router. Each channel can be routed independently and with separate levels for each.

“Seamless Redundancy Operation” is also new, the card can be used as a single MADI device recording up to 64 channels and have up to 2 uninterrupted switching MADI sources for redundancy.

Quick Spec * PCI Express Interface * 194 input- / 196 output channels = 390 channels * 3 x MADI I/O (2 x optical + 1 x coaxial) * AES/EBU I/O (via breakout cable) * 3 x virtual MIDI I/O over MADI * 1 x MIDI I/O via 5-pin DIN (breakout cable) * Stereo Analogue Out – Word Clock I/O * TotalMix FX with 192 kHz effects engine.

The shipping starts in May 2012.
