“Our verdict – it’s a masterpiece!”
Here at Synthax Audio UK, we were lucky enough to be given the opportunity to test out the first Babyface Pro in the country, the brand new audio interface from RME. Rather than being just a simple update, RME have set out to build on the original Babyface in every way, using it as the basis for their new product whilst creating an entirely new design with improved components. Being huge fans of the original RME Babyface, Product Manager Rob Masters and Marketing Manager Dave West couldn’t wait to put the new model through its paces, and happily they weren’t disappointed!
The Babyface Pro has a slick, compact and professional design, with a solid aluminium build. The breakout cable is gone, with all of the analogue connections now housed inside the unit, and the improved display gives simple access to all of its features, including in standalone mode. Everything is laid out in a clear and concise fashion and, as has come to be expected with RME, the sound quality is impeccable.
Having spent some time with the device, Rob and Dave said that they were truly impressed with every aspect, and love how RME have managed to retain everything that was great about the original whilst building on it further, making it neater and improving the features. The only downside was having to give it back!
