Calrec Type R, Talent Panel and GPIO
The Calrec Type R is a modular, expandable IP-based broadcast console designed for radio, OB and TV production. Utilising standard networking hardware, Type R combines motorised fader banks and touch-screen software panels, all of which can be tailored to operator needs.
With a simple 2U core with integrated I/O resources, a single core can power up to three independent mixing environments. Whether used as independent studio consoles, microphone processors or utility mixing, the ability to use multiple mixing engines – combined with the flexibility of the AES67-compatible network – provides all the power you will ever need.
Calrec Type R Talent Panel – NEW for 2022!
Recently unveiled at NAB 2022, Calrec’s new compact Talent Panel for Type R is an additional touch-screen controller for use in radio, and will be available to demo at MPTS 2022.
Single or multiple panels can be quickly added to an IP network, providing guests with a set of simplified controls via its integrated hi-res TFT and dedicated rotary control.
Four switches allow for the panel to be customised to the individual user, with common functions like headphone level, talkback and cough switches.
Calrec Type R GPIO – NEW for 2022!
Also new for 2022: the GPIO unit for Type R is a 1RU box that delivers an additional 32 GPOs and 32 GPIs for interfacing with external systems, such as playout, phone systems, codecs. Functionality can be added to physical buttons on Type R fader panels, soft panels, or web UIs and configured via Calrec’s Connect application.
“The pandemic provided a lot of momentum towards remote production, which these systems support,” says VP, Sales, Dave Letson. “But other forces were also at work, including cost saving and the shift to IP. These developments here also support that.”
