The Appsys Multiverter mk II is now available to buy in the UK.
Hemel Hempstead, UK – Appsys ProAudio has released the new Multiverter MVR-mkII.
Designed in Switzerland and manufactured in Germany, the sequel to the MVR-64 introduces a host of new features including an Extended Routing Matrix, more flexible I/O options, and separate front panel clock domains (for use with the optional asynchronous SRC module).
A one-stop shop for digital audio format conversion, the Multiverter MVR-mkII is designed to freely translate between formats such as AES3 (16x16ch), ADAT, SPDIF/AES3 optical, MADI optical and MADI coaxial, Dante/AES67, AES50 and MADI-TP, offering a wide range of connectivity for engineers working in live sound and broadcast.
Additional formats can be added via any of Appsys’s Flexiverter range of converters – bringing an extra 192 channels to the Multiverter MVR-mkII – and which can also operate as standalone devices.
The MVR mkII uses a Brooklyn III module from for its Dante feature set. Currently offering 64 x 64 channels, a future update will allow the Multiverter to support 128 x 128 Dante channels*.

New Front Panel Design
The front panel’s Routing Matrix has been expanded to include the additional I/O capabilities, with routing control available in 64 channel blocks.
Up to 16 presets can be stored and recalled, whilst the Clock section has also been updated to accommodate users working with the optional ASRC module, with separate indicators for clock domains A and B, and the ability to control the sample rate conversion directly from the front panel.
The monitoring section allows for line checking individual channels or stereo pairs, and features support for MIDAS and Behringher consoles (Headamp Remote Control for MIDAS/Behringer), with an on-board test tone generator for on-site trouble-shooting.
Flexible Back Panel I/O
The back panel now features 16 x 16 AES3 connections, replacing some of the original’s ADAT I/O (with internal pinout jumpers for switching between Yamaha and Tascam formats).
Up to 3 x MADI I/O can be achieved via the built-in MADI coaxial I/O and 2 x SFP slots (coax and optical supported), allowing for more flexibility in terms of connecting MADI devices, with WordClock I/O also on BNC.
The Ethernet connections feature coloured Neutrik «Halo» connectors (Dante and AES50/MADI-TP), with remote control available via Ethernet and USB-C, and MIDI I/O for remote switching of presets.
Three times power supplies provide an unprecedented level of failsafe when working on mission-critical applications, with 2 x mains IEC connections, and a third power slot for 9-18v batteries, with auto-switching if one of the power inputs fails.
Finally, the FlexLink connector is used for interfacing with the Flexiverter range, for adding additional format conversion, SRC or more channels.
Web Remote Control
The Multiverter MVR-mkII has been designed for fast and simple operation, with a ‘no-frills, everything-at-a glance’ concept.
The unit can be operated directly from the front panel, or via the integrated web server (Ethernet or USB), as well as via command line (telnet or USB-serial terminal).
The browser-based software remote control provides full control of the device via ethernet / Dante, as well as via USB. This includes a detailed routing matrix for all channels, including single-channel routing and in blocks of 8 (or 64) channels.
A demo mode is already available online for anyone who wants to test out the software controller before purchasing the new MVR-mkII.
Why choose between digital formats when you can have them all?
The Appsys Multiverter MVR-mkII is a true “swiss-army knife” for digital audio. With the optional ASRC module and further options via Flexiverter expansion boxes, the Multiverter presents an invaluable tool for engineers, OB trucks, and live audio professionals tasked with handling diverse formats and clock domains in the context of broadcast and live events.
