The latest firmware update adds further integration with home media and smart devices.
Never one to rest on their laurels, RME have continued to add features to their award-winning RME ADI-2 DAC with each additional firmware update. This has frequently been in response to direct requests from users, with the RME forum being a great place to share feedback and ideas for future updates.
With this latest version (30), the big news is that the ADI-2 DAC now includes support for programmable third party remote controls, such as the Logitech Harmony.
The ADI-2 DAC ships with its own included remote control of course, with 4 user-definable buttons that can be assigned to 31 different commands (mono, EQ on/off, Loudness on/off etc).
However, if you’d like even more control from the comfort of your sofa, remote controllers like the Logitech Harmony provide an even larger range of options, with more buttons and touch-screen control. What’s more, third-party remotes can often be used to control a variety of smart devices, home media and entertainment centres, allowing the ADI-2 DAC to be further integrated with home cinema and HiFi setups.
RME’s ADI-2 DAC enters remote paradise!
Here’s what RME’s Head of Design Matthias Carstens had to say about this latest update.
“Users that own a freely programmable remote, either as part of a home automation system, a self-build with infrared transmitters, or a programmable remote from renowned manufacturer Logitech, can now use their remote to control the ADI-2 DAC,” says Matthias.
“RME released a document listing all the supported remote commands and codes, and Logitech added all these commands/codes to their data base for the RME ADI-2 DAC.”
“The new, extended remote support covers more than the original 11 buttons of RME’s handy inclusion. Users now also have direct access to the 31 ‘remap’ actions/commands, with no remapping necessary.”
“The infrared code list also includes Bass +/-, Treble +/-, and Balance Left/Right control. Yes, these functions can now also be remote controlled, if you have a programmable remote with enough buttons.”
“RME’s total remote approach allows users to set Polarity, DAC filters, Dim, AutoDark, Crossfeed, Loudness, display control and many more features and functions, comfortably from the preferred listening position, or automated through custom remote solutions.”
“To control your ADI-2 DAC with the Logitech Harmony remote, simply search for the RME ADI-2 DAC in your Harmony software. Have fun!”
