RME Babyface Pro and Ultrasone Performance 880 nominated in this year’s MusicTech Gear Of The Year Awards
It's that time of year again and voting is now open for MusicTech's annual awards. Whether your a musician, producer or an engineer, the music production magazine wants to know your favourite pro audio products from the past year. Which piece of hardware or software has helped streamline your workflow? And which DAW, plugin or music app has added a new dimension to your music production?
This year's awards sees two nominations for products distributed by Synthax Audio UK, with the RME Babyface Pro recognised for innovation in the Best Interface/Mixer category, and the Ultrasone Performance 880 headphones getting the nod in the Best Accessory category.

RME Babyface Pro audio interface
As an established manufacturer of pro audio equipment, it's no surprise that RME have had several nominations over the years, recognising their achievements in consistently producing audio interfaces of the highest calibre. Most recently, the RME Fireface 802 was awarded the Gold Award in the 'Best Interface' category last year.
This year it's the company's mobile masterpiece the RME Babyface Pro, which has been nominated in the same category (Best Interface/Mixer). The Bavarian headphone specialist have developed a number of patents over the year for their designs, most notably the S-Logic system. By using an offset driver, S-Logic incorporates the outer ear during playback, providing a wider and more open sound-stage from a closed-back design without the need to artificially alter the audio signal.
The Ultrasone Performance 880 is the company’s top of the line model from the Performance range, and the P880 has already been recognised by MusicTech, who ranked them number one for mixing in their 6 of the Best Headphones. Developed to meet the demands of recording engineers, the Performance 880 combines an accurate and smooth tone with a comfortable fit. The use of Ultrasone's S-Logic Plus technology produces a hybrid listening experience, with a sound that's closer to that of an open-back headphone whilst providing the isolation of a closed-back, making them perfect for tracking and mixing.
