17th February 2014 2:19 pm

MPG-Awards

Jim Chancellor & Martin Warr

The 6th Music Producers Guild Awards was held at the Park Plaza Riverbank hotel last week to recognize and honour some of the record industries’ most talented engineers, producers and artistes. There were also awards for those who had made outstanding contributions to our industry.

The evening was hosted by comedian Rich Hall and there were many guest award presenters including Bill Wyman and Seal.

There was also a surprise performance from “The Outstanding Contribution to UK Music” winner, the legendary Trevor Horn who had formed a supergroup for the evening. The band included original 10cc member Lol Crème, founder member of “Art Of Noise” and Grammy, Oscar and Brits winner Ann Dudley, drummer Ash Soan, producer Steve Lipson and special guest Seal. They treated us to a string Horns hits including “Two Tribes” (Frankie Goes to Hollywood), “Slave to the Rhythm” (Grace Jones), “Crazy” (Seal) and his very own “Video Killed the Radio Star”.

RME also made their debut as the sponsor for the A&R category. Synthax Audio UK MD, Martin Warr, made the presentation to Fiction Records Jim Chancellor, who has been credited for finding such acts as “Snow Patrol”.

Our thanks to the MPG for inviting us to join them on such a prestigious event.
