This year’s Musikmesse show in Frankfurt is currently under way, and we have news of several new product launches at this year’s show from pro audio manufacturers RME, Ferrofish and MicW Microphones.
RME ADI-2 Pro Anniversary Edition
Last year RME celebrated their 20th year anniversary, with the German manufacturer announcing no less than four new products at Musikmesse 2016. One of those new devices was the RME ADI-2 Pro, a feature-packed update to the RME ADI-2, featuring incredibly precise audio quality, powerful headphone amplifiers, plus a host of innovative features that will appeal to both mastering engineers and high-end audio afficiandos alike.
With the ADI-2 Pro proving popular in both pro audio and Hifi circles, RME have chosen Musikmesse to unveil their new RME ADI-2 Pro Anniversary Edition. This limited edition version of the ADI-2 Pro features the same sound and functionality, but instead comes decked out in an all-black housing, in fitting with the style of audiophile-level HiFi setups.
You’ll also notice that the top of the unit features a transparent window, so that HiFi enthusiasts can get a closer look at this feat of German engineering in all its glory.

Ferrofish Pulse 16 and Verto Series
Ferrofish announced before the show that they’ll be adding four new products to their pro audio lineup. The Ferrofish Pulse 16 is a 16 in, 16 out AD/DA Converter designed to provide a compact and cost-effective method of adding more analogue I/O to your recording setup. Four ADAT I/O ports provide use of all 32 channels, even in 96 kHz SMUX mode. The unit can also be upgraded with a MADI card, expanding the connectivity to include MADI I/O.
Other features include an onboard headphone output for monitoring all incoming and outgoing signals, and two TFT displays that provide detailed level information for all 32 channels. Like its sibling the Ferrofish A32, the Pulse 16 also features an on-board help manual, which can be called up and viewed at any time from the TFT screens.
Also on show was the new Verto Series converters, a range of three 1/2 U digital format converters which allow users to connect their ADAT and MADI gear to a Dante Network;
Ferrofish VERTO32 : 4 x ADAT TOSLINK < > 2 x RJ-45 Dante
Ferrofish VERTO64 : 8 x ADAT TOSLINK < > 2 x RJ-45 Dante
Ferrofish VERTOMX : 1 x MADI optical < > 2 x RJ-45 Dante

MicW i437L i-Series Lightning Microphone
Microphone manufacturer MicW also chose this year's Musikmesse / Prolight & Sound show to unveil the MicW i437L, the latest addition to the company's series of dedicated utility mics, the MicW i-Series. With the news that Apple will no longer be including a 3.5 mm jack on many of their products, the i437L is designed to improve the recording quality of the iPhone 7, along with all previous iPhones and iPads that feature an 8 pin Lightning connector.
The i437L is a calibrated measurement microphone that complies with the IEC 61672 Class 2 sound level meter standard. With a variety of dedicated Apps available on the market for recording with an iPhone or iPad, the i437L can turn a phone or tablet into a quick and simple portable digital recorder, SPL meter or real-time audio analyzer.
